Teenager Amelia Stone wants to share a little bit of happiness and a lot of understanding to kids in drought-stricken NSW.

The 13-year-old from Esperance aims to raise $2000 to make 200 goodies bags that will be given to children in Bourke hit by a devastating drought. The bags will include toys and lollies.

Amelia got the idea after accompanying her father Ross to Bourke as part of the Hay from WA project, which will deliver more then 2000 hay bales to drought areas in NSW.

"She has come up with this completely off her own back," Amelia's mother Natahna said of her daughter's goodies bag idea.

Wanting to do something for her country peers facing extreme hardship, Amelia said: "I started out with a brainstorm chart of all the things I could do."
