Charges over alleged antique store threats

Police have charged a man after he allegedly threatened a 74-year-old antique store employee in Guildford last month.

It is alleged the 52-year-old tried to steal cash from the James Street business on August 28.

A police spokeswoman said he threatened the employee with a knife but fled empty-handed after he was confronted by a customer.

Detectives have also linked the man to a number of burglaries and fraud and stealing offences in the metropolitan area.

He will face a string of charges in Midland Magistrate’s Court today.
