A woman has described the terrifying moment she was attacked by a swarm of over 30,000 killer bees as a ‘bad movie’.

Kristen Beauregard, of Pantego, Texas, was out walking with her partner, exercising their miniature horses Chip and Trump, reports the Forth Worth Star-Telegram,

Suddenly, they were attacked by the swarm; Ms Beauregard was stung over 200 times and her partner nearly 50 times but the horses were stung so many times they died.

“They were chasing us down, they were following us," Ms Beauregard said.

"We swept up piles and piles of them - it was like a bad movie."

Ms Beauregard jumped into a pool of water trying to escape and the horse followed.

“It got all dark, like it was nighttime there were so many bees.

“We were trying stand up in the water but every time we stuck our heads out for air, they would cover us and start stinging us. We were trying to breathe and they were stinging us in the face and in the nose."

She escaped into her house but the bees followed before her partner was able to call emergency services, who arrived with a special foam substance which cleared the bees.

Chip, a six-year-old show horse died before a vet could arrive and Trump, a shetland pony, suffered severe injuries and sedated before being put down.

Authorities are still investigating if the bees are Africanized bees, also known as killer bees.
