'That's 100 yards right': Aaron shanks one Baddeley

Aussie golfer Aaron Baddeley had every weekend hacker smiling with an absolute shocker in the opening round of the Australian Open.

The two-time champion was playing a shot late in the day on Thursday when he sliced it horribly, sending the ball way off the fairway into the trees.

"That's carved way, way right...that's 100m right!" commentators said.

"That's a combination of trying to hit it low and draw it."

It wasn't the best round for Baddeley, who finished with a 2 over 74.

Young guns Curtis Luck and Lucas Herbert lead the way at 5 under.
