Panenka penalty attempt backfires spectacularly

Luis Manuel Seijas has produced one of the worst penalty attempts in football history during Venezuela's Copa America quarter final clash with Argentina.

Trailing 2-0 approaching half time, Venezuela had a golden opportunity to get back into the match when they were awarded a penalty.

Seijas stepped up an tried an audacious Panenka, but it backfired spectacularly.

The 29-year-old tried to fool Argentina keeper Sergio Romero by chipping the ball straight down the middle, but his opponent held his ground, easily catching the ball on his chest.

Seijas was left to rue his horrible blunder as fans vented their frustrations and disbelief.

Argentina went on to claim a 4-1 victory.
