Adrian, Ledecky nab more US short-course gold

Greensboro (United States) (AFP) - Olympic 100m freestyle gold medallist Nathan Adrian won the 200-yard freestyle at the USA Swimming's Winter Nationals.

Sprint specialist Adrian won in 1min 32.83sec for his first national title over a longer distance, albeit in yards rather than over the international race standard of 200 meters.

Katie Ledecky, the 17-year-old superstar who this year lowered world records in the 400m, 800m and 1,500m freestyle, won the women's 200-yard free in 1:42.39.

Adrian and Ledecky are among the few big names competing in the meet which coincides with the short course World Championships in Doha.

Nathan had won the 50-yard free on Thursday, when Ledecky triumphed in the 500-yard free.

Among other winners on Friday, Japan's Junya Koga won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 44.91sec.
