Stars and internationals fight for Cox Plate LIVE on Seven

A crack field will assemble for the $3m weight-for-age Cox Plate at Moonee Valley with Lloyd Williams’ horse Fawkner expected to jump favourite and Irish horse Adelaide aiming to be the first international runner to win the coveted Group 1 race.

Seven’s coverage will once again be full of racing features stories and colour. Neil Kearney catches up with the rags-to-riches story of spring racing hero Trust In A Gust, who is chasing his third consecutive group success in Saturday’s Crystal Mile.

And our popular Majors series continues as top jockey Chad Schofield re-enacts his Cox Plate win on Seamus Award last year.

Neil Kearney will also be in Longford on Saturday, home of crowd favourite The Cleaner, where his supporters will be having a street party. We’ll also be crossing to Rosehill Gardens.

Bruce McAvaney hosts the coverage alongside Francesca Cumani, Richard Freedman and Simon Marshall. Ryan Phelan will be in the mounting yard, with Neil Kearney, Rachael Finch and 7 News’ Michael Felgate and Jade Robran covering the action around the track.

As the free-to-air home of thoroughbred horseracing Seven broadcasts every major meeting on the Australian calendar including the Sydney Easter Carnival, the Caulfield Cup Carnival, the WS Cox Plate, Stradbroke Handicap, the Melbourne Cup Carnival and for the first time in January 2015, the Magic Millions.
