Tasmania's latest Rhodes Scholar hopes her studies will help cure disease in developing countries.
Rhea Longley, 22, received her award for academic excellence at Government House this morning.
She will now undertake a PhD in genetic research at Oxford University in the United Kingdom."I'll be working in the Jenner Institute which is a facility at Oxford where the main focus is on developing vaccines," she said.
"So I'll be particularly looking to develop a vaccine for malaria which is one of the most important infectious diseases throughout the world today."
