A 29-year-old man has been fined $800 for wearing a BBQ while driving a motorcycle on Melbourne's Eastern Freeway, The Age newspaper has reported.
Michael Wiles was said to have found a discarded BBQ on the side of the road, and decided to take it home with him. Albeit, haphazardly.
Taking the bike's lack of storage room into account, Wiles proceeded to thread his body through the cooking contraption, effectively wearing the BBQ.
The absurd sight didn't go passed pedestrians without notice, causing an onlooker to take a picture of Wiles on the bike.
The image became a viral hit and circulated via email, eventually ending up in the hands of police who quickly found Wiles and served him with a fine.
Appearing in a Melbourne court yesterday, Magistrate Lionel Winton-Smith reportedly said he had never encountered a case such as this in all his years as a magistrate.
"I have seen people with perhaps bits of wood sticking out of the car, but a barbecue?" Mr Winton-Smith said.
"I'm trying to think of a word to describe it."
"Ridiculous?" Mr McClure suggested.
"Ridiculous. That will do," Mr Winton-Smith said.
Wiles has since been approached by Barbeques Galore and asked to appear in an advertisement for the retailer.
Wiles refused the offer, copped his fine, and has been forced to admit the discarded BBQ was a dud.The secrets to stress management Yahoo!7 Lifestyle
