A ten-year-old boy has been impaled on his scooter's handlebar after a road accident.

The Sydney child was reportedly riding his scooter across a road in Stanhope Gardens around midday when he was struck by a car.

7News reports his abdomen was pierced by the handle bar as he was thrown into the air, and landed on top of the car.

Ambulance officers and a Careflight helicopter attended to the boy at the scene.

The boy is now in a stable condition at Sydney’s Westmead Hospital.
