The homeless man known as the Bondi caveman will face court today, accused of sexually assaulting a woman overnight.

The 54-year-old was arrested last night after a woman said she had been attacked about 10pm.

The woman called police to Marks Park, at the southern end of Bondi Beach.

The man has lived in a cliff-edge camp overlooking the beach there for close to 10 years.

He was charged with sexual assault, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting police.

He has been refused bail to face Waverley Local Court today.

Marks Park forms part of the route for the annual Sculptures by the Sea festival, which is on at the moment.
