Lotto winner seeks job at Maccas

A lottery winner has revealed his big plan now he's rich is to get a job at McDonald's.

Kiwi James Green might be $NZ500,000 ($A397,600) richer after a big win in New Zealand's Lotto but, far from aiming high, he's hoping to score a job at a fast-food outlet or "something easy".

The 36-year-old from Christchurch lost his job as an apprentice welder just weeks before his windfall and has spent the last month largely playing computer games.

"It was fun but it does get a bit boring," he told The Press newspaper.

His cash sits in his bank account untouched.

"I just put it in the bank," Green said.

"I haven't bought anything with it, just living off the interest."

His employment prospects in the fast-food industry look good, with two McDonald's managers saying they'd be keen to employ him.

"I'd love to talk to him," Franchisee owner, Bruce Davis, said.

"There's always work for enthusiastic people."
