A parliamentary committee has heard the Tasmanian Government was unhappy with decisions made by Acting Police Commissioner Darren Hine when it moved to replace him with Richard McCreadie.
The committee has questioned Mr Hine and senior police lawyer, Mark Miller, about the Government's abandoned attempt to bring Richard McCreadie out of retirement last year.
Mr Miller has told the committee he had heard rumours the government was unhappy with Mr Hine's decision to hand police files to the committee in the weeks before the Premier made the announcement about Mr McCreadie.Earlier, Mr McCreadie told the committee he had expected the Director of Public Prosecutions, Tim Ellis, would oppose his return but did not reveal why before the hearing went behind closed doors.
The government later abandoned the process on Mr Ellis's advice.
