A woman has died after her vehicle and a gas tanker crashed on the Warrego Highway west of Brisbane.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection of the Warrego Highway and Claus Road, near the Sundowner Hotel, just before noon (AEST) on Thursday.

Police say the woman, who was trapped inside the vehicle, died at the scene.

An emergency services spokeswoman said three fire crews initially attended the scene.

"However, no gas is leaking from the tanker and there is no fire threat at this time," she said.

A police spokeswoman said motorists should expect traffic delays.
