A defence inquiry has heard that a Newcastle Airforce technician warned his superiors the day before he killed himself.
The inquiry has heard today that a psychologist believed Corporal Jordan Talay was at an extreme risk of self-harm before he killed himself last year.
The 27-year-old father of one had recently been charged after an investigation.His commanding officer at the at the Williamtown Airforce Base has told the hearing that when he summoned Corporal Talay to discuss the charge in January last year, the technician said "it's lucky they took my weapons off me."
Group Captain Vincent Iervasi says he was aware Corporal Talay had mental health problems and booked him in to see a psychologist.The next day, 27-year-old was found dead.
The commanding officer said he would have intervened further, if he had been given full and free access to Corporal Talay's medical records.He said he should have been told that a psychologist believed the corporal had a '12 out of ten' risk of self harm.
