Seven people were arrested after police were pelted with bricks and bottles at Raymond Terrace north of Newcastle.
Police went to Mt Hall Road, Raymond Terrace, at about 1am (AEDT) on Sunday after a vehicle overturned and was blocking the road and leaking fuel.
While police and NSW Fire Brigade officers were at the scene, a large number of people who had gathered in the front yard of a nearby house started to hinder the efforts of the Fire Brigade officers.Police attempted to intervene, and it's alleged the crowd became hostile, yelling and swearing at them before pelting the officers and their vehicle with bricks and bottles.
Seven people were arrested and two were given court attendance notices for the offences of hindering police and offensive language and infringement notices were issued for the offences of failing to comply with a move-on direction and offensive language.During the incident no police officers were injured and no police vehicles were damaged.
