The cenotaph in Sydney's Martin Place is to be placed on the NSW heritage list.
Planning Minister Kristina Keneally said the NSW government will list the cenotaph on the State Heritage Register in the lead up to Remembrance Day.
"This listing will guarantee the preservation of a valuable part of NSW history, to act as a reminder to future generations of the great sacrifices on which our nation was built," Ms Keneally said in a statement on Sunday.
