An argument between two fishermen on a jetty in southeast Queensland has put one man in hospital after he was stabbed in the leg.

A 27-year-old man from Deception Bay was stabbed at the Bongaree Jetty, Bribie Island, just north of Brisbane, at about 11pm (AEST) on Wednesday night.

Police say the man was fishing on the jetty with other men when an argument occurred and he sustained the injury to his leg by an unknown object.

The man was taken to the Caboolture Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are continuing.
