A woman accused of biting the lip of a seven-month-old baby at a Brisbane childcare centre is expected to face court on Wednesday.

The staff member at ABC Learning's Indooroopilly East centre, in Brisbane's western suburbs, was suspended last month after the allegation was made.

The 39-year-old woman is charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of common assault and is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court.

It is understood the woman had a blue card - the Queensland authority to work with children - and was a fully accredited childcare worker.
