Police battle brawling mob at Surfers Paradise after Mayweather-McGregor super fight

Two people are in hospital after an ugly brawl broke out in the heart of Surfers Paradise in broad daylight.

The crowd had been watching the 'fight of the century' on Sunday afternoon when violence erupted and all hell broke loose.

At least two people were arrested as police battled the mob after the brawl broke out inside the Surfers Paradise Beer Garden just after 4pm.

In the confronting vision people can be heard screaming and several men appear to be involved in a large brawl.

Witnesses say one man was glassed, then stabbed in the neck not long after the Mayweather and McGregor boxing event.

"He bottled him got him good, mate, walked out it happened very quick, happened in 30 seconds,” one witness told 7 News.

The aftermath of the brawl was mayhem as police flooded into Cavill Avenue as tensions and crowds spilled out into the mall.

Half a dozen officers could be seen dragging a man to the ground, parading him through the chaotic crowd before he was searched.

A nearby female officer lashed out as the angry and aggressive mob repeatedly pushed back against the front line of defence.

"Back up! Back up,” she can be heard yelling at the group.

A man involved in the brawl was taken to Gold Coast Hospital.

He was bloodied, bandaged but also handcuffed as he saluted to the crowd.

Meanwhile another man was taken by ambulance with a stab wound to the neck.

The mall was closed off as police and fight fans faced off in a tense and violent confrontation.

The mall has since reopened however a number of officers remain on the scene and are continuing to interview witnesses.
