Woman found dead in Melbourne apartment after buck’s night treated as suspicious

Four men in Melbourne on a buck’s night remain in police custody as homicide police investigate how a woman’s body came to be discovered in their serviced apartment.

Police are still trying to identify the Caucasian woman aged in her 20s who was wearing a black long-sleeve top, denim shorts and white runners.

Her body was discovered in a shower by one of the men at the Oaks on Market serviced apartments in Melbourne's CBD at 8am on Sunday.

Her death is being treated as suspicious and police say the circumstances surrounding the death are unknown.

The four men aged in the late 20s and early 30s, all hail from the New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, police said in a statement.

It is understood the men met the woman at a nightclub on King Street before returning to the room at about 2.30am Sunday morning.

Pictures from the scene earlier showed forensic police removing evidence bags from the hotel.

Homicide detectives say an autopsy is currently being carried out on the body and it is hoped fingerprints will help to identify her.

In the meantime, the four men in are assisting police with their inquiries but no charges have been laid.
