CCTV reveals horrendous fire attack on unsuspecting Sydney sex worker

CCTV has captured the moment a woman was doused in petrol and set alight in Sydney on the orders of a man who had fallen in love with her.

The man who fell in love with the sex worker then arranged for her to be doused with petrol and set alight in a Chippendale backstreet is facing up to 25 years behind bars.

The 34-year-old suffered burns to nearly half her body and spent months in hospital undergoing multiple operations.

The accused, Mohammed Fouani, was married but fell in love with the sex worker.

The woman was on her way to work and didn't see her attacker approaching, or the fact he was carrying a milk carton full of petrol and a lighter.

While the footage doesn't show the full extend of the attack as it's considered too graphic, the woman comes out the other end, alive.

In a police interview Fouani said he "started to like her".

"She started to like me, but she's so stubborn," he said.

He had asked her to leave her job but says she wouldn't.

"I hated that she worked there, but I accepted it," he said.

Founai made the decision to recruit a teenage boy to burn the victim and make it look like a bag snatch, outside a brothel.

Fouani lied to police telling them he didn't hear anything but he had heard her screams and watched from his car as the teen he hired set the woman alight then fled.

The teenage boy was sentenced to three years jail in exchange for testifying against Fouani.
