Watch: Teen hanging from car seconds before joyride smash

Video has emerged of teenagers on an alleged joyride in southern Sydney before a serious accident, which has left one of them fighting for his life.

The teens are seen giggling inside the car, with one sticking half their body outside the window, moments before the Holden Commodore crashed at Taren Point, Caringbah.

NSW Police allege the car failed to stop for officers before the crash.

One witness alleged the car pulled over, “then as police slowed, they sped off”.

Witnesses said the car fishtailed and slammed into a pole.

"The car slid right past me and then over the median strip and into the pole... very high speed and horrible to see,” a witness said.

Fifteen-year-old Taya Harris, was pinned under her seat, and 17-year-old driver, Jai Buckley, had to be cut free from the wreckage.

It’s believed Jai was driving his mum’s car and only had a learner's licence.
