Two in custody in relation to missing Queensland toddler Baden Bond

A man and a woman have been taken in police custody in relation to Queensland toddler Baden Bond, who has been missing for a decade.

Queensland police confirmed on Wednesday that the toddler, who was last seen in March 2007, was likely murdered.

Little Baden Bond was last seen at his family’s home on Wagawn Street in Woodridge, but it took nine years for someone to report him missing.

The arrest comes just one day after police launched a fresh for appeal for information into little Baden's disappearance.

It is understood the family told officers the 22-month-old boy was in the care of the Department of Child Safety, but police have disputed that story.

“He is not in the care of DOCS, we have searched every possible location for Baden,” detective inspector Damien Hansen said on Wednesday.

“The family has given us a number of versions.

“They’ve given us versions that he is with relatives, he is with other people. Certainly all our investigations have proved negative.”

There are no school or medical records over the past decade for little Baden, with police trying to find out who is behind the boy’s mysterious disappearance.

In March last year forensic officers dug up bones in the backyard of the Woodridge home, which the family left just five months after Baden was last seen.

But police say tests are still being done to check if they are human remains, and could still be a few months away from completion.
