Cowardly attackers kick blind war veteran to the ground

Police are hunting two cowardly attackers who pushed a blind war veteran to the ground and assaulted him outside his home.

Liam Haven was taking his rubbish out on Wednesday night when he was punched from behind and kicked while on the ground.

The 28-year-old said he was punched to his face, eye and jaw in what police believe was a random attack at Mr Haven’s Anstey Street home in South Perth.

“This is a callous attack on a vulnerable member of our community,” detective Andrew McSweeney said.

Mr Haven was blinded when he was hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq almost 10 years ago.

The 28-year-old was left with just two per cent vision.
