Passengers freed from Movie World's Wild West Falls Adventure Ride

UPDATE: Several people have been freed from a popular ride at Queensland's Movie World.

According to witnesses, the popular Wild West Falls Adventure Ride stopped on Monday afternoon, with park staff quickly getting the eight-seat flume ride moving again.

Movie World released a short statement on the ride's stoppage, saying patrons were never at risk.

"The safety and wellbeing of guests is our top priority at Village Roadshow Theme Parks and we are committed to providing guests with a fun and safe environment," a spokesperson said.

"Ride stoppages and evacuations are a part of regular operating procedures and are an essential part of ride safety systems.

"During these occurrences, there is no risk to guests as the rides are operating as they are designed to."

The spokesperson said a variety of factors including weather, power surges, sensor adjustments or guest behaviour could be the cause of the stoppage.

The flume ride has been a park favourite since it opened in 1998.

The stoppage comes just five days after 20 passengers were stuck for more than an hour on the top of the Arkham Asylum roller coaster, shown in the video above, at the same Gold Coast theme park.

Emergency services and theme park staff worked to free those passengers, who were trapped at the top of the Arkham Asylum ride in sweltering heat.
