Would-be carjackers swarmed after dramatic police chase

Two men have been arrested trying to carjack a terrified driver moments after a dramatic police chase across Melbourne.

The pursuit started in Keysborough just before lunch time when police spotted a stolen car with two people inside.

They chased the car through several suburbs in Melbourne’s south-east before intercepting it at an intersection on the Princes Highway at Dandenong.

The men then jumped out and tried to carjack a terrified motorist, but they were swarmed by police and promptly pinned to the ground.

A 26-year-old Springvale man and a 25-year-old Doveton man are now being question and charges including theft and attempted carjacking likely to follow.
