Tourist accused of filming women undress in store change rooms

Police have charged a British tourist after he was allegedly caught filming women in change rooms at a Sunshine Coast shopping centre.

It’s alleged the 28-year-old entered a number of Queensland stores through November and December, taking photos of the women in various stages of undress.

The man was arrested at an Eenie Creek Road store on Saturday after a shopper allegedly saw the man put his mobile phone over the top of the changing room wall.

It will be alleged the man used the mobile phone at a beachwear store change room, and took photos of the woman getting changed in the cubicle next to him.

Police attended the shopping centre and arrested the man, who is in Australia on a working tourist visa.

Officers seized the man’s mobile phone and allegedly found more than 100 photos of women, with many then uploaded to a private Facebook account.

In a statement, police called for women who used the change rooms at either Noosa Civic or Sunshine Plaza between November 18 and December 10 to come forward, as they “may be able to assist” with enquiries.

The 28-year-old man has been charged with 54 counts of recording in breach of privacy.

He was remanded in custody.
