Wanted bikie taunts cops before high-speed chase through suburbia
A dangerous Comancheros bikie who allegedly rammed a patrol car during a wild chase in his mother’s car is the latest fugitive to taunt police while on the run.
Raymond Jones and fellow fugitive Conan Taylor have sent South Australian police on a wild goose chase, posting tips and photos to social media while the duo remain separately on the run.
But SA Police commissioner Grant Stevens said the posts may be the duo’s undoing.
“People who think they’re taunting us are probably providing us with opportunities to track them down,” he said.
Jones has been on the run since mid-October when he failed to appear in court for the final day of his assault trial.
On Tuesday, police tried to stop the 30-year-old in Craigmore in Adelaide, but he allegedly rammed a police car, dumped his mother’s Ford and fled the scene on foot.
During his time on the run, Jones posted a number of photos on Facebook, including one next to a police car and another outside the Elizabeth Police Station with the caption “Hey guys, stopping in to sign in. Ha ha ha.”
Jones’s mother Kathleen insists her son isn’t dangerous but said she has “no idea” where he would be.
“He’s not that bad of a criminal, He’s not even a criminal,” she said.
The Elizabeth Police Station post comes just days after wanted man Conan Taylor started a game of cat and mouse with SA police, by posting photos outside country pubs.
The York Peninsula man has been on the run for more than a week after allegedly pointing a rifle at officers.
Friends of Taylor issued 7 News with a statement from the wanted man, saying he’s been misunderstood.
“I’m not a bad person and I’m not the monster I’ve been made out to be,” the text read.
Both men remain on the run.
“We’ll take advantage of (the opportunity to track the men) as it arises,” Police commissioner Stevens said.
