Manhunt over north of Brisbane for armed man after shot fired

A manhunt has ended after a 37-year-old man has been taken into custody following an extensive manhunt north of Brisbane.

Earlier specialist police entered a home north of Brisbane and were unable to locate a man inside the residence who reportedly fired a shot on Wednesday morning.

Hours earlier police arrived at the home in a bid to negotiate with the armed man inside the residence.

Police were investigating a shooting incident that occurred earlier in the day at Warner, north of Brisbane.

Negotiators and heavily armed specialist officers arrived on scene and later cleared the home.

It was believed initially the man had barricaded himself inside the house after he fired a single shot at another man.

Queensland Police received a call at 12.50pm to Samsonvale Road.

Police told Yahoo7 that, "a shot had been fired" and that police were currently attending the scene.

Police announced an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act had been declared for the area within the boundaries of Oxford Street, Youngs Crossing Road, Old North Road, Gun Street, Flintwood Street, Sonata Drive, Kurrajong Drive and Regent Street.

Specialist police are heading to the area.
