Sydney Swans player Michael Talia stood down after alleged cocaine bust
Sydney Swans player Michael Talia has been stood down by the club after he was arrested on drug possession charges.
A statement released by the Swans on Monday said Talia had been charged with possession of a quantity of a prohibited substance at Double Bay on Sunday morning.
A NSW police spokesman said a 23-year-old had been arrested after he was allegedly found with cocaine.
"Police from Rose Bay Proactive Crime Team were patrolling Knox Lane at Double Bay.

"It will be alleged they saw two men enter an alcove in the laneway. A subsequent search of the pair found a small plastic bag, alleged to hold cocaine," the spokesman said.
Talia is due to face Waverly Local Court in August.
Nothing relevant was found on a 22-year-old man, who was allowed to leave.
Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley said the Swans were taking the matter “very seriously”.
“It’s extremely disappointing to have one of our players in this situation,” Harley said.
“Given the seriousness of the charges we have made the decision to stand Michael down from training and club activities as we gather the facts.
“Our decision is in no way a reflection of judgment, but rather an interim measure as the matter is investigated by police.
Harley said all Swans players were educated about drug use and the AFL’s illicit drugs policy, as well as the club’s firm view on drug issues.
“We will work through this matter with Michael from a legal, welfare and education perspective to ensure he receives the necessary support.”
Talia has been recovering from a foot injury and hasn’t played in the senior side since Round 1.
