Two women injured in Queensland 'assault'

A 28-year-old man is assisting police following an alleged assault in which two women were injured in Queensland's Darling Downs on Saturday night.

Police say an altercation occurred between a man and two women who were known to him at about 7pm at a home on Bridge Street at Wilsonton.

"About 7.30pm this evening we had an elderly female resident was assaulted with what we believe is a bladed instrument of some kind," Senior Sergeant Russell Reynolds said on scene.

"A younger resident of the same premises has also been physically assaulted, although not with the bladed instrument."

The 48-year-old woman and the 24-year-old woman received injuries to the head.

Both of them were transported to Toowoomba Hospital.

No one has been charged over the incident.
