Police investigate shooting death of man on Sydney roadside

A man, thought to be in his 20s, has been shot dead in Cabramatta, in southwest Sydney, on Saturday night.

Emergency crews were called at about 10.45pm following reports of a shooting.

Police say the man was found on Jasmine Crescent in a critical condition and died at the scene.

The man is yet to be formally identified and a crime scene remains in place this morning while investigations continue.

In a separate incident a man has been charged after another man was shot in Buff Point at about 6.50pm on Saturday.

A 21-year-old was airlifted to Royal North Shore hospital in a critical condition.

Police say he had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest.

"Initial investigations suggest an altercation took place between two groups of people outside a home before the man was shot," a NSW police statement said.

A 20-year-old has been charged with discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
