CCTV shows murder accused 'dragging dead body around college campus'

Disturbing CCTV video from a US college campus has shown a murder suspect dragging the dead body of a woman who had been stabbed and beaten to death just moments earlier.

Marcus Bivins was caught on camera on April 30, allegedly searching for a place to hide the body of 34-year-old Jeanne Huntoon.

The video shows him allegedly drag the body into a multi-storey car park, where the woman was found dead several hours later.

While Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan is usually patrolled by licensed police, school officials said the incident occurred overnight while the campus was closed and the officers were not on duty, Fox17 reported.

Sergeant Terry Dixon from the Grand Rapids Police Department told local media that a witness saw unusual activity on the campus just before 3am.

“A witness had observed what appeared to be a male dragging a body on campus into some bushes near the parking ramp.”

Blood stains and trail marks where the victim had been dragged could be seen near the bushes.

Ms Huntoon’s body was found early on Saturday morning only metres away from a security post, which allows students to alert emergency services.

Bivins was charged with open murder on Wednesday.

Police said the accused and his victim were not known to each other and the killing was a random act of violence.

Bivins had a criminal record from the age of 13, and over the years he was accused of assault, battery and disorderly conduct.

In 2011 he was charged with escaping a juvenile facility and auto theft, the Daily Mail reported.

The victim’s mother, Debbie Huntoon, set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for her daughter’s funeral and wrote an emotional tribute to her on the donation page.

“She was my only daughter and this is a mother's worst nightmare,” she wrote.

“She was the most caring and loving person who was adamant about doing onto others how you want others to do onto you.

“I have no funds set aside for this tragedy, as no one can prepare for this kind of nightmare.”

The $10,000 target was reached within days of the tragedy.

A celebration of life was held for Ms Huntoon on Saturday, one week after her body was found.
