Captain wowed by nature as orca pod ambush hundreds of dolphins

As the owner of a whale watching tour boat, Captain Michael Sack probably thought he had seen it all when it came to marine life - until a mouth-dropping display of nature left him lost for words last week.

During a solo trip in Monterey Bay, California, Mr Sack noticed some activity in the water ahead of him and pulled out his camera just in time to record a killer whale hunt in action.

Hundreds of dolphins suddenly burst from the waters around his vessel, much to the captain’s delight.

“Oh, man! Stampede! That was insane!” he can be heard yelling as he realises the dolphins are on the run.

“They’re running right now from orcas, there’s about eight to 10 orcas out here,” he narrates.

“What an incredible encounter I just had!”

He watches on for several minutes as the orcas work together to separate the dolphin and launch their attack.

By the end of the video, the dolphin carcass, stripped of it’s flesh, is the only thing left floating in the suddenly calm-again water.

Mr Sack has spend most of his working life on the water and runs his own company, Sancutary Cruises.
