Man allegedly exposed himself to two girls at Melbourne primary school

A man lurking near a Melbourne primary school toilet block has allegedly exposed himself to two young girls.

Two nine-year-old girls walked towards a toilet at Laburnum Primary School, on Janet Street, in Blackburn where a man reportedly sexually assaulted them about 11.30am Tuesday.

The girls tried to flee, but the man allegedly grabbed one of them and pushed himself against her, according to 3AW radio.

It was reported the other girl tried to pull her friend away from the man, until the alleged victim broke free and the pair ran to their classroom and reported the attack to their teachers.

Detective Acting Sergeant Rosemary Eden, told the radio station police were investigating an incident involving a man who exposed himself to two school girls.

Police were searching for a man of Asian appearance aged in his 20s, with an average build and black hair which is longer on the top and shaved around the sides.

He was wearing a dark, long-sleeved top with tracksuit pants and white Adidas runners at the time.

Police suspect the man left the school through parkland which borders the school.

Laburnum Primary School Principal Steven Richardson confirmed an unknown man exposed himself to two female students on school grounds, but could not comment on the grabbing claims made on 3AW.

“The girls quickly brought the incident to the attention of school staff and the school immediately contacted police.

“Obviously we have taken this very seriously and we have introduced a number of interim safety measures to further protect our students, including further education," Mr Richardson said.

The principal said students would be offered counseling.

He said the school had CCTV cameras but not in the area of the alleged attack, and would look into adding more.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
