Man dead, ten injured following bus rollover in North Queensland

A 19-year-old is confirmed dead and a person has had their arm amputated after a serious bus rollover left four people critical and ten injured, including a six-month-old baby, in North Queensland.

The bus, which had 13 people on board, was travelling west on Shute Harbor Road when it left the roadway and overturned near Brandy Creek Road around 1pm, a police statement said.

The 19-year-old man was transported to Proserpine Hospital and pronounced deceased late this afternoon.

A 17-year-old man remains in a critical condition and is expected to be transported to Townsville Hospital along with a 25-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, who have each suffered serious arm injuries.

Seven News understands a person has had their arm amputated after the incident.

The 70-year-old male driver, three female passengers aged 79, 46 and 23 and three male passengers aged 42, 36 and a six-month old infant were also transported to Mackay and Proserpine hospitals for treatment.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing its investigations into the incident.
