Shocking CCTV footage of man punched while in headlock in Queensland

A Brisbane teen has suffered suspected head injuries after reportedly being held in a headlock and punched at a cab rank near where 18-year-old Cole Miller was fatally struck less than a fortnight ago.

The incident occurred in Fortitude Valley at the Ann St taxi rank at around 2am Thursday morning and involved two groups of men.

Police report the 19-teen-year-old victim was forcibly held in a headlock by one man and repeatedly punched in the head by a second man.

The accused a 21-year-old New Farm resident has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and faced Magistrates Court today where he was refused bail.

A second man has since been charged by police.

It is believed the victim, a 19-year-old Hamilton resident lost consciousness and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.

The victim has since been released from hospital.

Police investigations are continuing and they are appealing for members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with any information.

In the wake of recent violent incidents eight-year-old Sian Williams has released a message to those who commit 'coward punch' attacks issuing strong warnings against the senseless violence.



She has spoken out passionately against the attacks stating: "My message for today is for teens and other youth out there who think it is cool to punch a person when they aren't looking."

"Coward punching kills and destroys lives," she says with great passion.

"Stop acting tough and take responsibility for your actions."

Williams first came to the attention of people when at the tender age of six she launched Kidszucate Inc, a Non-Profit and Charity Organisation.

The shocking CCTV footage has been released only a day after 18-year-old, Cole Miller, was laid to rest.

Miller, the victim of an alleged one-punch attack was farewelled at the Cathedral of St Stephen in Brisbane’s CBD yesterday with hundreds of mourners filling the church.

The 18-year-old up-and-coming water polo star tragically died after he suffered massive brain trauma following an alleged one-punch attack earlier this month.

The elite water polo player was left for dead when he was attacked while walking with a friend through Chinatown Mall in Fortitude Valley about 3.35am.

It’s believed the two men were about to hail a taxi when they were confronted by four men.

Miller suffered serious head injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead the following day.
