Fireworks explode at once, injuring 10 on NYE
New Year’s Eve celebrations in the Brazilian city of Rio das Ostra turned to chaos when fireworks started to explode all at once, injuring ten people.
Revellers were forced to flee a party when the fireworks sparked several fires, which reached public celebrations at Whale Square.
Officials do not know if a fire caused the fireworks to explode, or if a mass explosion caused the fire.
Footage posted on Youtube by Regiane Carlos shows party-goers enjoying an impressive fireworks show before things suddenly go very wrong.
Multiple explosions can be heard and the fireworks ahead look much too close to the ground.
Sparks and burning remnants of the fireworks then begin to land among the crowd, as people suddenly realise that something is not right.
Cheers soon turn to screams and people begin to flee.
Ten people presented to the local emergency room with burns, reported Brazilian news outlet, Globo. They were treated and have since been released.
The local municipal authority said a manufacturing defect in the fireworks was to blame for the chaos.
These guys are definitely not on their own when it comes to fireworks gone wrong.
