14-year-old drunk driver caught by NZ police
A 14-year-old drunk driver has shocked authorities in the New Zealand town of Masterton.
The teen was pulled over last night at a random breath-testing checkpoint where he gave a reading of 135 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
Wellington district road policing manager Inspector Mike Wright said he was disappointed by the results of the operation.
"Over the school holidays, it is important that parents know what their children are up to," Wright said.
"This young man put not just himself but many other people at risk."
"We don't want any unopened presents under the Christmas tree this year".
The teen’s vehicle has been impounded and he has been referred to Youth Aid.
