Heartless thieves steal disabled boy's pony

A young Queensland boy who suffers from epilepsy and cerebral palsy has been left heartbroken after his therapy pony was stolen from his home.

Three-year-old Hugo uses ‘Mr Stubbs’ to help him cope with his condition.

Hugo’s grandmother, Phyllis Bromley, told 7 Local News the pony was stolen from a secure paddock at their Gin Gin property one night late last month.

“You would’ve had to see him to know he was here to take him, so it is someone who uses our road unfortunately,” she said.

Mr Stubbs was bought as a companion for Hugo.

It took the family two-years to find a friendly pony that was suitable for his needs.

“When he’s around the horse he knows he has to be gentle. He can’t be loud, he can’t be his normal self, he has to calm himself down,”
Hugo’s mother, Tanika Bromley told 7 Local News.

“He needs him and I personally can’t afford to buy another horse for him.”

Police are investigating the incident.
