Taxi 'stolen' in Kippa-Ring north of Brisbane over fare dispute

A Queensland man has been charged over the theft of a taxi after an argument apparently broke out over the fare.

The man, 29, forced the driver from the cab in Kippa-Ring, north of Brisbane, early on Sunday, police allege.

With his fellow passengers in tow, the accused took off.

Police used the taxi's GPS to track down the man to Brendale, a roughly 30-minute drive from where it was taken.

The man, from Deception Bay, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

He is due to face the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on March 30.
