Human bones confirmed at West Beach golf club, Adelaide

Forensic tests have confirmed that two of 11 bones dug up at a West Beach golf club in Adelaide are human.

The remains were found at Adelaide Shores Golf Park in an area where development work had been taking place.

The first bone was discovered by people walking through the area in late September and a second was found by police a week later.

A large police contingent returned to the scene including Major Crime Investigation Branch detectives and STAR Group officers.

Police said Forensic Science SA was carrying out further DNA testing on the two bones confirmed as human, to try to determine more specific information such as the age, height and sex of the deceased.

Testing would also try to determine how long the bones had been buried and whether they were historic or from more recent times.
