Vic drivers charged in safety operation

Three people have been charged with various driving offences during a safety operation in Melbourne.

A man and woman, both aged 42, were charged and their car was impounded after police discovered the unregistered two-seat ute was also carrying a 16-year-old passenger when they pulled it over in Ringwood about 5pm on Sunday.

Other charges included breaching bail and breaching a community correction order, police said.

A few hours later, a local man breath tested at Seaford allegedly returned a reading of .237.

He's been charged with driving under the influence and unlicensed driving but released pending summons.

The arrests were part of Operation Furlong, the Melbourne Cup road safety operation.
