Police arrest trio for money laundering

Three people have been arrested and charged for laundering more than $250,000 in cash in Sydney.

Detectives on Wednesday arrested a 49-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man after they were found with $261,450 as they left a property in Neutral Bay, in Sydney's north.

Inside the duo's apartment, officers found and seized a small amount of methylamphetamine, a money counter, mobile phones, computers, scales and drug packaging.

Later, a 30-year-old man from Homebush, was arrested outside a Lynbara Avenue property in the north shore suburb of St Ives after detectives found he had $30,000 and a small amount of heroin in his car.

Police say the trio are linked.

The man and woman arrested in Neutral Bay were each charged with money laundering, knowingly dealing in the proceeds of crime and intent to conceal.

The woman was refused bail on Thursday to reappear on Monday while the man was granted conditional bail and and is due in court on December 16.

The 30-year-old man arrested in St Ives was charged with drug possession and dealing in the proceeds of crime.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on 12 November 2014.
