Man charged over fatal hit-and-run in WA

A 38-year-old man has been charged over a hit-and-run crash that killed a cyclist in Perth.

Police say the man failed to stop after he hit the 31-year-old male cyclist with his ute at 7.40am on Saturday in Welshpool in Perth's southern suburbs.

The driver later hit a pole near an entrance to the Roe Highway, more than 20km away in Thornlie, police said.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Midland Magistrates Court on November 5 on several charges including dangerous driving occasioning death.

The cyclist was the fourth fatality on WA roads in less than 24 hours, with three people killed on Friday.

A 42-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he hit a car in Nollamara.

A 32-year-old woman was killed when she was thrown from a ute that rolled on the Great Northern Highway 70km south of South Hedland.

And a 64-year-old woman died at Bedfordale when her car crashed head-on with a truck on the Albany Highway.
