Masked group bashes, ties up Vic teens

Two teenage boys have allegedly been bashed, robbed and tied up by a group of masked offenders wielding knuckle dusters and knives in Melbourne's north.

The teens, aged 15 and 16, were walking along Spring Street in Thomastown at 1am on Wednesday when two cars pulled up next to them, police say.

A group of around eight masked assailants got out of the cars and demanded the teens' money and phones.

The masked group allegedly pulled out flick knives and knuckle dusters and assaulted the boys, who then gave up their phones.

The boys were found tied up inside a parked car on a nearby bridge after an anonymous emergency call drew police to the scene.

The teens were taken to hospital, with the 16-year-old being treated for head injuries.

Police are appealing for more information from any witnesses, particularly the person who made the emergency call.
