Train on fire in Sydney

Firefighters are battling a blaze on a train carriage in Sydney's west.

A fire broke out on the roof of the train at Granville on Tuesday night.

The train was empty except for a driver, who escaped unharmed.

"It's just a matter of isolating it now," a NSW fire spokesman said.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage and the South Line is partially closed between Granville and Cabramatta.

Passengers are advised to delay travel to the affected area until buses begin operating.
