NT police seize cannabis, cash in raid

More than half a million dollars' worth of cannabis has been seized and a major hydroponic system dismantled following a police raid on a Darwin home.

A 35-year-old Howard Springs man was arrested and is expected to be charged with drug offences including cultivating a commercial quantity of cannabis, possession and firearms offences.

Police confiscated 32 cannabis plants, about 10kg of dried cannabis plant material and more than $17,000 cash.

Detective Acting Superintendent Clint Sims said the Howard Springs property had been significantly altered to install the equipment.

"Police located a number of sophisticated hydroponic grow rooms throughout the house," Det Supt Sims said.

Police also seized hydroponic grow room equipment and rifle.

The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is $500,000, police said.
