Son of Qld MH17 victims on charity drive

The son of a Queensland couple aboard doomed Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 is raising funds for their favourite charity.

Toowoomba doctors Roger and Jill Guard were among up to 39 Australian citizens and residents who died when the plane was shot down on the Ukraine border a week ago.

Their son Paul is raising funds for Doctors Without Borders.

"They are very impartial and rely on a lot of private funding," Paul Guard told ABC radio on Friday.

"So we think that this is a cause that does deserve a lot of money.

"The fact that my parents were doctors and they lost their lives in a conflict zone, and the work that (it) does in conflict zones and crises around the world, we just think it is very appropriate.
